Introduction:

This page includes five links to expanded web pages.  They are:

1) Public Education

This includes links to the Ontario Ministry of Education and important documents relating to public education for special education students (of which 'gifted' students are included in). On that page, there is also links to some information regarding the school boards across Ontario.

2) Private and Alternative Education

This link brings you to a page which covers some basic information on private and alternative schools which are available for students across Ontario.  These schools may fit your child better, and are worth looking at.  Some of the alternative schools are funded by the Ontario Ministry of Education so not all of these schools are fee paying (though most are).

3) Virtual Education

This covers some information regarding the new(er) trend in virtual schools.  These links provide parents and prospective students with information and requirements for taking some high school credits on-line.

4) Higher Education

The above link will bring you to the page with links and information on higher education in Canada (colleges and universities).

5) "Gifted" Friendly Schools

This is a new page set up December 21st, 2003.  The links and information on this page cover a few schools that are known to be very "gifted" friendly (e.g., open to the idea of acceleration, single subject or grade, rejoice in the uniqueness of the individual's learning styles and asynchronous developments).
