Purpose

This message board is a forum for parents, caregivers, and interested professionals to share thier thoughts and concerns regarding the issues raised concerning homeschooling gifted children.  It is our hope that within this message board, parents will find support, information and camaraderie. Anyone may post to this board, so long as they agree to follow these guidelines.

Membership is public and open to all parties who are interested in supporting and enriching the lives of gifted children. We need no ''proof'' of a child's IQ for the parent (or child, as has been the case) to participate.

By clicking on "I Agree", below, you agree to abide by these "Rules of Play" and you will be brought to the message board.

Message Board Etiquette

While it may be tedious, it is necessary to share with you a few guidelines that should be followed to protect the privacy and the positive environment of the board and its members.

A message board such as this one can only operate successfully if all members feel that they may post with as much or as little anonymity as they want. There is enough stigmatization behind being the parent of a gifted child ''in real life'' (IRL) to have to worry about it in this forum.

It is completely at your discretion, however, we would like to suggest that you choose aliases for your childrens' names.  Please choose an aliase for yourself as well!

Because the community of gifted children is small, should you recognize another member on the board please do not list or describe any identifying information regarding that person unless given explicit permission to do so. If a revealing piece of information does come up, please notify the administrator immediately and the post will be adjusted. Any person who is found to have revealed identifying information without the explicit permission of the person concerned on this board or those boards linked through Ontario Gifted, will not be allowed to post on this Homeschooling the Gifted board.

When posting to the message board, it is suggested that if you choose to list an email address, that you choose one that is relatively anonymous (e.g., does not contain your full name, or last name). Groups like Yahoo offer free email addresses.

We are a diverse group of individuals who share a common interest -- the differences in our children. Our unique and different opinions are welcome and bring necessary discourse to the board. Please respect others' opinions. I love a good debate and believe firmly that the presentation of different views can only be beneficial. Contradicting information provides us with a great deal of information for us to use as we negotiate this challenging road of parenting gifted children.

On this board as on any other, you will find individuals who may become your fast and good friends, and others whom you have little in common with and/or even little love for. Avoid those who upset you and seek out those who support you.  It is my hope that everyone will find the support and information they deserve and need here on this board as it relates to gifted children.  Personal attacks, threats, or foul language will not be tolerated on this board. The posts will be deleted.  No member should feel afraid to post his or her views, statements or observations.  Individuals who continue to disrupt the board or harass others on boards that are frequented by OG members will have their posts deleted.

Consider that children may also read our messages.
