For many parents of gifted children, particularly those parents who have exceptionally gifted children, homeschooling for part of the child's schooling becomes the only viable option.

Homeschooling is challenging, demanding, requires patience, persistence, and an incredible ability to network--not to mention the ability to have one parent stay home at least part time!  Most homeschoolers would agree that the rewards are worth every effort.  But it is not for everyone.

If you are a homeschooler, or are considering homeschooling, we hope the following links will be of some assistance!

If you have any questions regarding homeschooling your gifted child, Ontario Gifted now has a homeschooling representative -- Welcome Lisa!

We at Ontario Gifted have now organised "Homeschooling the Gifted" monthly gatherings!! Many thanks to Annie for taking on the responsibility of organising such events.  Click HERE to be brought to the details of our next gathering.

Visit our new Message Board for parents who are homeschooling their gifted children! While this board is linked to Ontario Gifted, it is not a regional message board -- here we can find support and advice from an international community of homeschoolers.  Please click below to enter:

    Renaissance Learning Center

This is a commercial site which sells, among other items, 'quizzes' for many of the popular books that children read.  I can see these quizzes as being helpful for some parents and children to better gauge the level of reading comprehension the child has.  Would also be helpful to those parents who are homeschooling their children.
