The following is the letter that Ontario Gifted has written on Michele Bharath's behalf.

This letter was written to support Cameron Bharath's right to appropriate education as set out in the Ministry of Education and supported by the findings of the Ontario Special Education Tribunal, 'The Identification and Placement of Cameron Bharath Between Dr. Michele Alexis and Mr. Keppel Bharath, Appellents and Upper Canada District School Board'.

Thank you,

Dear Minister Witmer;

This purpose of this letter is to request your Ministry's written intervention to uphold the second finding of the Ontario Special Education Tribunal: 'The Identification and Placement of Cameron Bharath Between Dr. Michele Alexis and Mr. Keppel Bharath, Appellants and Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB).'

The results of the tribunal indicate that Cameron Bharath, a gifted student, be placed "within a group of gifted peers".  Because this has yet to occur, the parents of Cameron Bharath have filed a motion of contempt of court with the UCDSB which has yet to come before the courts. Your intervention would ensure that Cameron Bharath and other gifted learners in the UCDSB have access to appropriate education that would allow them to develop to their full educational potential, a goal which is mandated according to your Ministry.

It is our understanding that despite repeated requests, the Ministry of Education has yet to respond to Dr. Alexis regarding this matter.  The executive and members of Ontario Gifted implore you to intervene, and write a letter to the UCDSB requesting that they comply with the Tribunal's findings and seek a timely resolution to this matter.

We thank you in advance for your time.

Respectfully,

Ms. Ceci Vasoff

Executive Member
