Gifted
Advocacy |
From
Hoagies. A plethora of articles pertaining to advocacy and the
gifted child. Most if not all of the articles are US based, so
some may not be that relevant for us Canadians, but other articles
are relevant (such as how to advocate) no matter where one lives.

Problem
Solving 103: In The Principal's Office |
A really good
article on how to advocate for your child at the school!

The
Tea and Terrorist Society: Parent Advocacy at the District Level
|
A great
article (also refered to at Hoagies) which has some real 'hands on'
suggestions for advocating based on a real example of effective advocacy. |

Special
Need and Special Gifts |
A grass-roots
parent's site with helpful advice on working with the system to
secure your child's rights. Although written for the parents of
children with learning disabilities and other special needs, this
sight can still offer parents whose children are gifted with quite a
bit of information. Based in the US, so, unfortunately, the laws do
not pertain to Canada.

to see which one's are being offered in your area). Teresa

board)
recommeded this company and she has made use of their services.

Wrightslaw:
Special Education Law |
This site is
quite comprehensive, but it is unfortunate that it refers only to US
based law. However, as with most of the advocacy sites that I
have listed here, it does contain some great tips and techniques
which are very useful for us parents.
