Introduction:

I am Lisa -- a SAHM to 'DVO', my sweet loveable son!  My hubby is often referred to as 'Razor' by his buddies and is staying at home working on his web page www.loudfrog.com.  My guy is into maps, Magic School Bus, Magic Tree House and Geronimo Stilton. He enjoys building with K’nex and Lego, and wants to be an engineer. He has been designing his own cruise ship after learning everything he can about the Titanic. He has it sailing from New York to England, then into the Mediterranean and down the Nile to Lake Victoria (when the Nile is flooded) to stop in Kisumu, Kenya (so he can visit his Granny).

I had decided to home school him after an extensive search for a program that would challenge him. He decided to start grade 1 part time for “fun”. The school is trying to challenge him, but has limited capacity to go too far, so they agreed to allow him to attend only half days so he can continue to learn the challenging stuff at home. He loves taking swimming lessons, and visiting his friends and the library. We are regulars at the Ontario Science Center – his favorite places – the “Star Lab” and “The Living Earth”. Weekly he visits a senior to play chess as well as is enjoying the challenge of chess club. We like the fact that he can play chess with a variety of kids of differing age levels.

I am located in the Durham Region, and am the homeschooling representative at Ontario Gifted.  I can be reached at either lisa.homeschool@ontariogifted.org or Lisa@ve.ca.
