Jack's Journal
February 5th 2003

I went to Daddy's workplace with my mom 'cause, the same again, she's the only one who can stay home.  Daddy works at this workplace.  It looks like where there's lots of rooms and people go in there, and I can tell you one name.  Jay!  Jay showed me around this computer room.  It's called the server farm.  There's a whole bunch of computers and here's the silliest one - the one that tells the other ones their names!  I think that one's name is Remembery.

Jay gave me two chocolates.  And he gave me this computer advice that we could put in our computer.  It is called a riser board, and it is from Dell.  Static electricity is bad for computers, so don't put static electricity near your computer!  My riser board is in the anti-static electricity bag.  The bag keeps it good.

Jay showed me some wires under the floor, he did this with this little plungey thing, and I can lift up the floor, too!  Because, I am strong.  And there are these two bottles and they suck up the air when there's a fire because fire needs air to keep going.  And when we see a fire we hold our breaths, 'cause that kind of helium sucks up the air and fire needs air, and so do we so that's why we run to the door holding our air.

The air conditioner is at a high place, but Jay got there with a ladder, so that wasn't so bad.  He lifted me up so I could see that place.  It's for keeping the computers cool.

I saw the giant batteries in this working area where Daddy can't even get in there!  These giant batteries do useful things in that area.  If you run out of power, they take the power.

Jay said Daddy works for the government of Canada, and some very very smart people work for Daddy.  They keep the computers running.  The computers do stuff like do air conditioning, and they keep track of money for Canada.

Daddy works at that place, 'cause if he doesn't work then we won't have our house.  So, your mom and dad should work somewhere 'cause if they don't then they won't have a house.

The end!
