This information provided to me (Sheri) by Teri Teixeira, from the Peel Summer Academy. The Peel Summer Academy is a two-week summer residential program for intellectually gifted children, which provides them with an ideal blend of activities to address their unique intellectual, social and emotional needs. Since 1984, it has provided stimulation, fun and social growth to thousands of bright young people. In 2001, 230 students in grades 4-8 resided at the Erindale Campus of the University of Toronto at Mississauga and chose courses from an extensive list including Forensic Science, Magic, Rocket Physics, Filmmaking, Astronomy, The Arts, Cooking, Debating and Sports. They also enjoyed a variety of recreational activities as well as theme nights including a Hoe-down. Thirty-one grade 9 and 10 students participated in our Memorial University program in St. John's, Newfoundland. They stayed in the Paton College residence at Memorial University and chose courses in Sciences, Arts and Marine Technology.
