Robert's Art Work Page Welcome to my son's art work page. I love the evolution in children's drawings. Perhaps it is because when I watch my children create art, I am witnessing the physical expressions of their thoughts. Drawing most often happens slower than their speech, so I am better able to enjoy the process unfolding before me. Despite my enrichment and teaching in the academic components of their lives, I have approached artistic endeavors with a complete 'hands off' attitude. My children have rarely asked me 'how to draw' something, and I have shown them just as infrequently. The next few examples are Robert's recent artwork.
Meet the Artist:
Before January 2002, Robert's art work consisted solely of scribbles and spirals which he was very pleased to name. He held the marker both with a fist grip at times, and at others with the 'proper' grip. Then one day he drew his first person -- and within two weeks was drawing the pictures you see below. Here are some completed in the month of March, 2002, when Robert was 2 years and 11 months old.
Here is a picture of 'Daddy playing hockey'.
This is a picture of an octopus swimming with an arrow pointing to the top of the water where a train is going by.
The evolution of man? ;) Actually, I don't know if that would be the correct title for this piece of work. While Robert didn't label this one, I know that the far left person is mommy and I surmise that the other two are himself and his sister.
The pictures in this section were completed in Feb. 2002. Robert was 34 months old.
The above picture was drawn by Robert early on in February (He was just two months shy of his 3rd birthday). This is a picture of 'Daddy'. Robert was very pleased that he was able to write 'dad' below the picture (and I was a little more than surprised).
This picture is a picture of mommy and baby 'Ana', again drawn just before Ana's birth mid February.
In the above picture, Robert has drawn the earth (the big green circle), a moon (the small pink circle), Saturn (the squiggles in the upper right corner), and a rocket ship flying to the moon. This was drawn mid February.
This is one of Robert's earliest recognizable pictures. Drawn in January 2002. This is a bowl of alphabet soup. Robert was 33 months old.
